Nuzzle

I was prepared to step outside of my comfort zone and sign up for a Nuzzle account, but when I went to sign in through Twitter it stated that the application will be able to:

·         Read Tweets from your timeline.
·         See who you follow, and follow new people.
·         Update your profile.
·         Post Tweets for you.
·         See your email address.

Post tweets for me!? Update my profile for me!? Excuse my French, but there is no way in hell that I will allow some private company to create and control my online identity. This caught me off guard and I am honestly wondering who would be ok with this? I imagine that some people blindly sign up without reading the fine print, but this was just too weird for me. Am I missing something here? Can anyone give me more information that may alleviate some of my concerns?

  1. I too am always very skeptical when I see terms of use that state things like that. Typically, when they say "post tweets for you" it means they'll tweet "Kelli is using Nuzzle to get personalized news". Does that make it ok? For me, no. But it's your classic quid pro quo to use their free service.

  2. Wowsers... yep, I don't think this is the app for me. Thanks for sharing the fine print, Samuel. The ambiguity in the statements you shared is enough for me to decide not to utilize this tool either.

  3. It is concerning, for sure. Before I signed up, I read through their material to sort out exactly what the deal was, and ... well, this is the deal: http://nuzzel.com/faq

They won't post random tweets (or update your profile), but the connection allows you to trigger a tweet through nuzzel if you so wish.

Twitter has limited permissions options, so it's read, read-write (this option, allowing a flow-through tweet), and read-write + DMs (they don't ask for that).
